Create Your Template

We have 3 Template Instructions Below:

1. How To Create New Hair System Template
2. Create Template From Existing Hair System
3. Create Full Hair system Template (Full Cranial Prosthesis)

Items You Will Need

  • Your chosen helper
  • Hair System Template Instructions
  • Cling-Film like (Saran Wrap or any similar plastic wrap)
  • Regular Clear Tape (Scotch clear tape).
  • Permanent Marker like Sharpie Fine Point
  • Pair of Sharp Scissors.

Using a Sharpie permanent marker, draw pattern lines on the tape template while it is still on your head. Though requirements vary from person to person, some rules of thumb apply to most.
Front hair line should usually be established by placing 3 or 4 of your fingers(depending of your age) about the brow line. Lines are drawn from that point to form a pattern, which covers the bald area. Deeper recessions look most natural.

After the entire outer perimeter of the pattern is drawn, the desired style should be indicated.
If you would like a part, draw a line of the part that you want to the front hair line. Placement of the pivot point should correspond to what can be seen of your original growth

Create Your Template Step 1

Tear off a piece of 12” wide clear plastic wrap that is long enough to stretch all the way around your head and tie it in a knot under your chin. Spray a little water on your scalp first, so that the plastic wrap fits very tightly. After pressing the wrap tightly to your head, use strips of clear household clear scotch tape (not wide packing/shipping tape) Apply 3 layers of tape over the plastic wrap to keep the form in place and contour the head shape. Beginning at your forehead, place strips of the clear scotch tape over the plastic wrap at the side edges of your bald area and work your way inward with more tape strips.

’IMPORTANT’ as a bench mark, place 4 fingers above the eyebrows where you will create the hairline.
NEVER as low as your frown lines!

Create Your Template Step 1
Cut the saran wrap and place on top of the head.

Notice the back is positioned into the healthy hair. Once you have a complete layer of tape running front-to-back, place another layer of tape over the first layer, going from side-to-side. Apply three layers of tape – two layers front-to-back and one side-to-side. The tape will lock the plastic wrap into a permanent, transparent mold (template) of your scalp.

Place a finger on top of the cellophane in the middle of the forehead. Start twisting the middle ends which have been gathered behind the ears, this will pull the back and front tight to the head.

Keep twisting until the handles created are tight.

Create Your Template Step 3
1. The areas of baldness determine these outer perimeters.
2. After you have taped the boundaries, cover the inner portion of the plastic wrap with overlapping piece of tape.
3. Apply 3 layers of tape. Make sure the length of clear tape is placed on top of the saran wrap (cellophane) in the healthy hair at the back, and finishes just above the eyebrows. It is a good idea to place the clear tape at the front of the cellophane and onto the skin of the scalp, this helps hold your position and will be useful for you while attaching the tapes during the whole procedure.
4. The tape will lock the plastic wrap into a permanent transparent tape template.
Create Your Template Step 1

Now that you have cut you template, place arrows in the direction that you hair grows and if you want a part draw it on the template in your desired position.
